‘STORYBUD’ WINS ROYAL TELEVISION SOCIETY AWARD: BEST CHILDREN’S PROGRAMME IRELAND 2023

‘What’s the story bud?’ The story is that we have created a fun animated series for kids with Kite Entertainment called ‘Storybud’. Twenty episodes (fifteen episodes in series one and a mini-series of five episodes especially for Christmas) were produced for RTÉJr. The format, developed by Kite’s Darren Smith and Caboom’s Damian Farrell, sees some of Ireland’s funniest folk narrate their version of traditional fairytales from the comfort of an armchair. Jason Byrne, Doireann Garrihy, Baz Ashmawy, Bernard O’Shea, Sinead Quinlan, Deirdre O’Kane and Tara Lynne O’Neill put on their best funny voices to bring to life such classic tales as ‘The Elves and The Loo Maker’, ‘The Princess and The Bean’,  ‘A-Lad-in The Mitchelstown Cave’ and ‘Carol’s Christmas’.

The series written by Jason Byrne, Karl Harpur, Alison Spittle, Bernard O’Shea and Sinéad Quinlan features a mix of live action performances and animated sequences. ‘Storybud’ was filmed at Graco Studios in Dublin with post-production by Gorilla.
